Sha Tin Track Work 28.04.2016

AEROVELOCITY

At his best Aerovelocity would be in the race up until his ears, nearly favourite for me. However an aborted trip to Japan, where he went through a bout of colic has seen him miss some crucial work in the lead up. So unfortunately he’s not quite there currently and trainer Paul O’Sullivan would like another three weeks to work the horse and get him into top notch shape.

He worked 800m on the all-weather track in 57.9s (29.7, 28.2). O’Sullivan said: “Everything’s fine this morning. You can’t play catch-up with them, if you’re behind, you’re behind. He’s a race day horse and if he lifts, you never know.” Gate 14 will make things even tougher for Aerovelocity.

NOT LISTENIN’TOME

He galloped 800m on turf in 52.1s (28.4, 23.7). Trainer John Moore said: “He galloped down the straight on the turf course and everything seems fine. The jury’s still out with respect to the trip to Dubai and back. He looks great in his coat and he’s put the body weight back on but when they come back from these trips, not many will run up to their full ability.”

MONGOLIAN SATURDAY

Galloped 800m on the turf course in 55.4s (33.1, 22.3). Trainer Ganbat Enebish gave his track work rider a blast upon completion of the work, not being happy with how he was ridden out.

He said: “That was his last fast work this morning, just to give him a good blow out ready for the race, and tomorrow he will walk. We took him around the parade ring because he’s a horse that gets nervous when the race gets closer – he had the eye cups on to calm him, but he will not wear them in the race, only to the starting gate. It’s a tough race, it’s a great race to watch, we have the world’s best sprinters all in one race.”

CHAUTAUQUA

He had a routine canter on the all-weather track – moving freely and looked relaxed. He’s drawn gate six, so no damage done there. The team now are counting down the hours until race time.

BUFFERING

Another who had a quiet morning, cantering on the dirt, with Mel Sharpe back on board. Has drawn gate three, so that couldn’t have gone much better for Robert Heathcote and team.

MAURICE (JPN)

He galloped 800m on turf with Jo Moreira on board, in 54.0s (30.6, 23.4). Moreira seemed very happy with the feel the horse gave him. Assistant trainer Toru Munakata said: “He is very relaxed and walking nicely even after the fast work. He is in good condition. Tomorrow he will remain in the quarantine area.”

PACKING PINS

This up and comer from Hong Kong worked 800m on the all-weather in 50.2s (27.1, 23.1) with race jockey Gerald Mosse. This is his first crack at Group One level, so he’s in at the deep end here. Drawn gate one is a bonus, he can make his own luck.

REWARDING HERO

Galloped 1200m on turf under Tommy Berry in 1m 25.0s (30.4, 31.0, 23.6). Trainer John Moore said: “Rewarding Hero galloped down the straight and the jockey was happy with him. He’s clean in his wind. We all know he’s long in the tooth and will have his work cut out but if he could run a place we’d be more than happy.”

SAFETY CHECK

This horse look wee and very relaxed within himself, although his record suggests he may be stretched in this class. He cantered on the all-weather track under work rider Willie Ryan who said: “He’s moving well – feels sound.”
