CHAUTAUQUA
He had his final hit out on the turf this morning in preparation for Sunday, where he will try and emulate the great Silent Witness by winning a Chairmans Sprint Prize (Silent Witness was able to win two and be placed in another). He covered 800m in 53.9s (30.2, 23.7) with a closing 200m of 11.2s.
He worked keenly this morning and it pleased trainer John Hawkes. He said “Really good, he wasn’t out to do a lot this morning, he had a good hit out Tuesday. He’s lovely and relaxed a little bit keen, but he’s fine”. About being keen: “No that’s him, he’s exactly the same, he always likes to get into his work”.
BUFFERING
Cantered a lap of the dirt track, taking it very easily. Melanie Sharpe is very happy with where he’s at “He’s good, very relaxed. Ready to go”.
BOW CREEK
He also worked on the dirt, cantering several laps under regular rider Richard Cronin. He’s looking well within himself, and seems a happy horse. He’s definitely improved in his time here. Whether he’s up to the class remains to be seen, however his preparation is going well.
SAFETY CHECK
Galloped on the turf under track work rider Willie Ryan, covering 1200m in 1m 21.0s (32.2, 27.3, 21.5). He moved well as he has done all week, the son of Dubawi is an impressive, athletic looking individual. A winner of his last two starts in weaker grade in Dubai, he may be stretched in this. However his preparation has gone well and the team were all smiles after the his work.
